Nottingham Shopping
Nottingham loves to shop! Having consistently been ranked as one of the UK’s leading retail centres, the city has earned an enviable reputation for excellent shopping facilities – particularly for fashion. And Nottingham’s compact city centre means that, unlike London, Birmingham or Manchester, all shops are within convenient walking distance.
Our retail diversity is another strength – from independent boutiques and specialist shops in the cosmopolitan Hockley area to a roll-call of all the major high street names. Nottingham is highly regarded in the world of fashion design: after all, this is the dress-to-impress city where local lad Paul Smith opened his first shop. The original store remains in Byard Lane and is now surrounded by other famous designer stores such as Whistles, Limeys, Hugo Boss, Kurt Geiger, Ted Baker and Cruise Flannels to name a few.
The two main shopping centres, Broadmarsh and Victoria, also offer the convenience of easy parking. Recently, major redevelopment plans have been unveiled for the Broadmarsh Centre. Over £400 million is being invested, tripling the size of this shopping site.
Every year Nottingham attracts upwards of 25 million shoppers. The combination of friendliness, accessibility and choice puts Nottingham high on everyone’s list. And après-shop there’s plenty of stylish bars where you can rest your weary feet with a coffee or cocktail. Pound our streets and see for yourself, but beware – the number of must-have purchases you come across might have serious implications for your bank account!
Nottingham Victoria Centre
Victoria Centre has 120 shops and stores all under one roof, including anchor stores like John Lewis and House of Fraser, plus a wide selection of cafes and restaurants. The Victoria Centre typically attracts over 450,000 visitors a week, which means that around 23 million customers visit each year. As well as opening 7 days a week, with late night shopping on a Wednesday, Victoria Centre has 2,700 covered parking spaces which makes getting to the shops even easier!
The Castle Mall shopping centre was opened in September 1993 and took around 4 years to be completed. The site occupies nearly 7 acres in the centre of Nottingham, 4 acres of which include a substantial part of an ancient monument, i.e. Nottingham Castle. The building work also redeveloped one of the oldest streets in Nottingham (Timberhill) as well replacing the unsightly area of the old cattle market.
Parking in the Victoria Centre car parks is easy, and from 10am Monday to Saturday our special shoppers tariff means that 8 hours parking in our car parks costs only £5. On Sunday the maximum charge is only £3.50.
And, if you are planning a night out in Nottingham, why not park in our 24 hour White Zone car park, which is accessed via Woodborough Road, then you can enjoy your evening without worrying what time you need to be back to the car.
Designated parking spaces for Blue Badge holders are available in all the Victoria Centre car parks. For additional convenience, these can be pre-booked at the Shopmobility office on Nottingham 0115 915 3888.
